Double gold for Zaid at Grand Prix

Jordan’s Zaid Sami has picked up double gold at the Ju-Jitsu Grand Prix being held in Kazakhstan.
The Jordanian fighter beat the host nation’s Rizat Makhachiv in the final of the -94 kg weight and then added the open weight gold to make it a double dose of success. His teammates Haidar Al-Rashid and Hamza Othman were also in action.
Haider lost in the second round of the -85kg weight against Emirati Mohammed Al Ameri.
Osman lost early in the -77kg category to another Emirati, Mohammed Al Kubaisi. On Sunday, Anas Shamout (-56kg), Farih Al Harhasha (-62kg), Abdul Karim Al Rasheed (-69kg) and Yasmin Al Khatib (-45kg) are in action.
The event is providing some valuable competiton time for Jordan’s national team members as they build their preparations for the Asian Championships from July 14-22, and the World Championships in the UAE, from November 15-24.
