BLACK IRIS SHORTLISTS COULD BE REVEALED SUNDAY

The shortlists for the latest edition of the Black Iris Sports Awards could be revealed as soon as Sunday evening.

The awards annually recognise sporting excellence, and are considered as Jordan’s sporting Oscars with some of the biggest stars receiving the top accolades over the past 10 years.

But the process to decide 2014’s recipients has been tweaked to ensure the best possible chance is given to the top performers to appear on the shortlists, which are then put to public vote.

Phase one is complete with Jordan’s 34 National Sporting Federations submitting their own candidates for the five categories. This long list will be considered on Sundayby a high-level panel consisting of sporting experts from the national media, as well as senior Jordan Olympic Committee officials.

The panel will then release their decisions following the meeting, with voting set to start on social media within the following few days.

The winners will be announced at a gala dinner in February.
