BASKETBALL HEROES HONOURED

Jordan’s national Basketball team members have been honoured at a ceremony to recognise their achievement of qualifying for the FIBA World Cup finals in China from August 31-September 15.
Held under the patronage of Minister of Culture and Youth, Dr. Mohammed Abu Rumman, the Jordanian Basketball Federation’s temporary committee paid tribute to the players who have seen the Kingdom through to their second finals after Turkey in 2010.
The Chairman of the Temporary Committee, Mohamed Alayyan, praised the achievement of the team, and also thanked the Kingdom’s fans for showing their tremendous support during the campaign.
Jordan finished third in their tough qualifying group following seven wins and five defeats. At the World Cup, Jordan is in Group G alongside the Dominican Republic, France and Germany.
They will start their campaign against the Dominican Republic on September 1, before facing France two days later and finally Germany on September 5.
