JORDAN HEAD TO ROME TAEKWONDO GRAND PRIX
Jun 03, 2019
Jordan will be hoping to continue their medal run in the World Taekwondo Grand Prix by participating in the season opener in Rome this weekend.
More than 250 fighters from 53 countries are expected with Team Jordan consisting of Juliana Al Sadeq (-67kg), Saleh Al Sharabati (-80kg) and Hamza Qattan (+80kg), who recently won a world bronze.
The 2016 Rio Olympic champion, Ahmad Abu Ghaush, will not be competing after opting for a break following his recent World silver medal. This year's Grand Prix will play a major role in the qualification process for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, and will see rounds held in Chiba (Tokyo), Sofia and Moscow following Rome’s opener.
The Grand Prix was launched for the first time in 2013. Jordan have won four medals to date through Abu Ghaush (gold, bronze), Al Sharabati (silver) and Juliana Al Sadeq (bronze).
