ABU AWAD SILVER IN POLAND

Khitam Abu Awad has continued her glittering career by winning silver at the Para Polish Table Tennis Open, a stepping stone for qualifying to the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.
Abu Awad cruised past two Chilean players and one from Hong Kong to reach the semi-final where she beat her Japanese opponent 3-0. In the final, she came up against a strong Swedish player and lost following a marathon match to settle for silver.
Meanwhile, Osama Abu Jamea was knocked out at the quarter-final stage of the men's singles after earlier beating three players from Latvia, Romania and Poland.
Fatima Al Azzam, Faten Elimat, Ibrahim Dardas and Nidal Faraj all fell at the first round. The national team is headed by Haroun Shaltoni with Mohammed Abu Farha his assistant coach. For her part, Maha Barghouthi, the Secretary General of the Jordanian Paralympic Committee, congratulated Abu Awad, who continues to be a role model for handicapped sport in Jordan.
Winners in Poland receive 20 Paralympic qualifying points, with the Jordanians continuing their quest for points at upcoming tournaments in Chinese Taipei and Finland in the coming months.
