There was plenty of cause to celebrate when the Jordan Olympic Committee hosted its annual Iftar in the presence of HRH Prince Feisal Al Hussein, President of the Jordan Olympic Committee; HRH Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein, President of the Jordanian Football Federation; HRH Princess Ayah Bint Feisal, President of the Jordanian Volleyball Federation; HRH Prince Raad Bin Zaid; HRH Princess Zeina Rashed, President of the Olympic Preparation Programme and a number of dignitaries.
Hosted at the Kempinski Hotel Amman, the Iftar was opened by a welcome address from Nasser Majali, Secretary General of the JOC, who praised the sector for their achievements throughout the past year.
“This evening we celebrate the coming together of our sports community which includes sports federations, private and public sector, sports media, and everyone involved in moving this sector forward,” he said.
“We all share the same vision for seeing Jordanian sport develop and create more heroes who can inspire the next generation of athletes to carry the Jordan flag across the world. “Jordanian sport is witnessing some remarkable moments in its history and we are recognising some major achievements tonight which shows that sport here continues to move forward under the guidance and leaderships of HRH Prince Feisal.”
Majali went on to highlight many of the Jordanian sporting achievements of the past 12 months, with the athletes who have made their mark at world and Asian level recognised in person by HRH Prince Feisal.
The Jordan Basketball side was also recognised for qualifying to the FIBA World Cup.
