Jordan have begun their quest for World Taekwondo Championships medals in Manchester with Zaid Mustafa the first to compete from the 11-strong team on Wednesday.
The Youth Olympics bronze medallist won his first match in the -58kg division against Valdet AlLaraj of Albania, but then lost to Gashim Magomedov, of Azerbaijan.
Two more fighters will try their luck on Thursday with Abdel Rahman Abualsamen facing Germany’s Hussein Kanan in the -54kg, and Roslan Lbzo launching her -68kg campaign against Arven Al Cantara, of The Philippines.
Olympic champion Ahmed Abu Ghaush will begin his competition on Friday. Saleh Al Sharabati, Juliana Al Sadeq, Zaid Al Halawani and Luna Abu Eisha will participate on Saturday, while Anas Al Sadiq, Hamza Qattan and Nataly Al Humaidi will conclude the national team’s involvement on the final day of the tournament, Sunday.
