ASIAN MEDALS FOR OLYMPIC BOXERS
Apr 26, 2019
Jordan’s preparations for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics were boosted by silver and bronze medals at the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships in Bangkok.
And it was the two boxers who represented Jordan at the Rio 2016 Olympics that made the podium with Obada Al-Kasbeh winning silver and Hussein Ishaish coming home with a bronze.
Al-Kasbeh won four fights on his way to the final of the light welterweight (64kg) division, eventually losing a close final to Tajikistan’s Bakhodur Usmonov.
Ishaish has dropped down a weight to the -91kg Heavyweight division since Rio, and looked sharp in reaching the semi-finals where he came up short against Uzbekistan’s Sanjar Tursunov, who went on to lose the final to Uzbekistan’s Sanjar Tursunov.
