JORDAN QUALIFY FOR BASKETBALL WORLD CUP

Jordan have sensationally qualified for the FIBA Basketball World Cup after stunning their group leaders New Zealand at the Prince Hamzeh Hall on Sunday evening.
Needing victory to guarantee one of the three qualifying spots from the six-team Group E, Jordan rose to the occasion with a superb 86-80 to send the packed arena into raptures.
Trailing 19-16 after the first quarter, the Falcons, led by star player Dar Tucker who bagged 25 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists, outscored the Tall Blacks in each of the next three quarters to secure their place for China.
Mousa Alawadi also turned some heads with 21 points thanks to five three-pointers, while Ahmad Al-Dwairi made his presence felt with 15 points and nine rebounds.
The win pushed Jordan to solo third place in Group E and into their first FIBA Basketball World Cup since 2010.
The final list of FIBA Asia teams qualified to the World Cup are: China (hosts), Australia, New Zealand, Korea, Japan, Iran, Philippines and Jordan.
The World Cup takes place in China from August 31-September 15.
