JORDAN STUN DEFENDING CHAMPIONS

Jordan have pulled off one of their most spectacular results in recent years by beating defending champions Australia at the AFC Asian Cup in Al Ain, UAE.

A superb defensive performance neutralised the Socceroos with the back line proving solid throughout.

The decisive goal came in the 26th minute when Anas Bani Yaseen caught the Australia defence napping from a corner to head home.

It was an even more incredible result considering Jordan have only one of their previous nine matches.

The victory sees Jordan looking set for qualification to the knock-out stages with matches against Palestine and Syria to come in Group B.

Syria are up next on Thursday.
