RALLY TO BRING THE CURTAIN DOWN ON MOTORSPORT SEASON
Nov 29, 2018
Another jam-packed season of thrills and spills will come to a close on Friday when the fourth and final round of the National Rally Championship will be held.
Despite Khaled Juma already securing the crown after round three, a quality field is expected to tackle the two classic rally stages of the Baptism Site and Ma’in for 57.18 timed kilometres with each stage run twice.
The event is being based at the Dead Sea Service Park opposite the hotels area and the first car is expected to leave at 9.30am for the stage one at 10am.
The podium is scheduled for 2.30pm back at the Service Park.
There is likely to be a huge battle with the championship runners-up spot up for grabs as just eight points separate second to fourth places.
Salameh Al-Gammaz, in a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 5, holds second on the championship standings, with Ahmad Shaban in third and fourth-placed Ihab Shurafa also in with a shout of finishing second for the season.
With the drivers’ title already sorted, there is a dramatic chase for the co-drivers’ crown with Shaban’s navigator, Shadi Shaban, leading the way by just 1.5 points from Emad Juma, who has been alongside Khalid Juma this season but is teaming up with Al-Ghammaz with the championship winner sitting this one out.
The rally will bring the curtain down on another successful season for Jordan Motorsport which has organised a record number of events this year.
National Rally Championship standings after round three (top four only)
Khalid Juma 80.5 points
Salameh Al Gammaz 55
Ahmad Shaban 52
Ihab Shurafa 47
