Oct 07, 2018
The 3rd edition of the Youth Olympic Games has launched with a massive opening ceremony held in Plaza De La Republica in the middle of Buenos Aires.
For the first time in any Olympic Games, the ceremony was hosted in an open place so that the public could attend, and it proved a massive success. Jordan’s delegation was led by Karate’s Abdullah Hammad as flag bearer.
“We are from so many different backgrounds but gather as one in the same place,” said Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee. “The Olympic Values enable us to unite under the banners of respect, friendship and excellence.”
Jordan have sent a record team of 13 athletes representing Taekwondo, Swimming, Athletics, Karate, Equestrian and 3x3 Basketball.
