Sep 30, 2018
The record delegation representing Jordan at next week’s Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires has received a rousing send-off from the Jordan Olympic Committee (JOC).
With 12 youngsters heading to South America, the biggest number we have qualified for the Games yet, a final check on their preparations was made at the Olympic Preparations Centre by HRH Princess Zaina Al Rashed, the director of Olympic Preparations Programme, and Nasser Majali, Secretary General of the JOC.
Majali extended the warm wishes of HRH Prince Feisal Al Hussein, President of the JOC, and told the athletes that the whole of Jordan was behind them.
“We are so happy to qualify 12 athletes to the Youth Olympic Games and would like to thank the athletes, coaches and everyone involved for their hard work in reaching this point,” Majali said.
“All we can do now is to wish you all well and make Jordan proud!”
The 12 athletes travelling are Taekwondo’s Zaid Mustafa, Natalie Al Humaidi and Rama Abu Al Rub, Equestrian’s Sara Al Armouti, Karate’s Abdullah Hammad, Swimming’s Mohammad Al Bdour, Runners Samer Jawhar and Abdullah Al Mulaifi as well as the 3x3 Basketball team.
Jordan has previously won silver and bronze medals by Taekwondo’s Dana Haidar and Yazan Al Sadeq in the edition held in Singapore in 2010.
