EDUCATION MINISTER BACKS JORDAN’S ATHLETES
Aug 08, 2018
A healthy body makes a healthy mind and Jordan’s elite athletes will be able to benefit from both following a groundbreaking agreement.
The Ministry of Higher Education has announced that it will provide scholarships to athletes to study at various governmental universities, and has vowed to support those who are combining study with competing at major international sporting events.
The announcement came following a meeting between the Minister, HE Dr. Adel Al Tubasi, and a delegation from the Jordan Olympic Committee (JOC) headed by Vice President, Dr. Sari Hamdan; Secretary General, Nasser Majali; and Education Department Manager, Sawsan Qaddoumi.
The JOC has long been an advocate of Jordanian athletes continuing their studies and this new agreement is part of the Ministry’s plan to support the Kingdom’s leading athletes.
Athletes often need to take leave from studies to train and compete in major championships and this new agreement will ensure that they receive special treatment from their education provider.
