Apr 06, 2018
Natali Al Humaidi has become the latest Jordanian to book a spot for the Youth Olympic Games later this year.
Al Humaidi reached the quarter-final of the qualifying event for Taekwondo in Tunisia, enough to secure one of the eight places available.
She lost to Mexico’s Leseli Sletro, 7-2, in the -63kg weight, but it was her earlier victories over France’s Fatimah Al Sweidi and Trinidad and Tobago’s Chelsi Mavard that secured her place on the plane to Buenos Aires later this year.
“We are so proud of Natali who even fought with a broken hand,” said head coach, Faris Al Assaf.
Al Humaidi joins horse jumper Sara Al Armouti and the 3x3 Baketball team for the Youth Olympics which will take place from October 6.
More fighters will try to secure their places on Saturday.
