YOUTH OLYMPIC GAMES PRIORITY FOR TAEKWONDO

Jordan’s bid to qualify Taekwondo fighters to the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in Buenos Aires, Argentina, later this year is an undoubted priority for the Federation in 2018.
With Jordan previously winning two silver medals at the YOG, the U17 team currently preparing know they have some big shoes to fill when their bid starts at the World Juniors Championship in Tunisia from April 6-7.
Under the watchful eye of head coach Faris Al Assaf, whp coached Ahmad Abu Ghaush to 2016 Olympic gold, Jordan has named a strong team of six fighters including Lu'ai Nazal (-48kg), Zaid Mustafa (-55kg) and Mustafa Al Lahham (-63kg) in the boys with Rama Abu Al Rub (-55kg), Natali Al Humaidi (-63kg) and Aysha Al Sadah (+63kg) will represent the girls’ team.
Al Assaf is supported by Nabeel Talal and Laith Ezzat in the coaching set-up. Prior to the Worlds, the team will compete at Championships in Turkey and Bulgaria in March. Jordan’s previous silver medals came via Dana Haidar (-49kg) and Yazan Al Sadeq (+73kg) at the first Youth Olympic Games held in Singapore in 2010.
