ARAB FENCING CHAMPS UNDERWAY

Host nation Jordan and Lebanon have dominated the opening day at the Arab Junior Fencing Championships taking place at the Jordan Fencing Federation.
After warming up superbly with a range of medals at last week’s Amman Junior International Championships, the Jordanians continued their form into the Arab version which runs for three days through to tomorrow (Saturday).
Foil Weapon
Male U13: Jordan’s Eias Al Zumor took gold while Qatar’s Ali Al Hindi finished second and Egypt’s Kareem Essam was third.
Male U11: Jordan’s Kareem Asem took gold after beating Lebanon’s Hadi Dakkash while Egypt’s Abdulrahman Khalid was third.
Female U11: Lebanon’s Tia Abu Arrag took gold after beating Egypt’s Jana Darweesh, while Jordan’s Leemar Al Zumor and Egypt’s Lugain Shareif shared third.
Epee Weapon
Female U13: Lebanon’s Tatiana Franini took gold after beating Palestine’s Nadine Halabi while Jordan’s Lujain Farhan and Lena Al Qudah shared third.
Male U11: Lebanon’s Hadi Dakkash took gold after beating teammate Elias Jalbout, while Jordan’s Abdullah Al Nasser and Abdullah Kloub took third.
Female U11: Jordan’s Ban Khatatbeh took gold after beating teammate Leen Shannak, while both Lebanon Tina Abu Arraj and Jordan’s Farah Qawa’eer finished third.
The championship has attracted young fencers competing in the U11, U13 and U15 age groups representing Palestine, Lebanon, Egypt, UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Yemen and Jordan.
