Jul 23, 2017
Jordan's Olympic sensation Khader Baqlah has set a new Jordan record in the 400m Freestyle at the FINA World Swimming Championships taking place in Budapest, Hungary.
The 18-year-old won his heat in a new best time of 3:54.13 to smash his previous best achieved in May's Islamic Games by more than a second.
It wasn't fast enough to qualify through but showed that again he is closing the gap on the world's best. He will compete in his favoured 200m freestyle tomorrow.
Meanwhile, his teammate Amro AlWir finished second in his 100m breaststroke heat to set new national record of 1:05.70.
The time will give Al Wir a chance to be nominated for the next Youth Olympic Games that will be held in Buenos Iris next year.
Meanwhile, Lara Aklok finished fifth in her 100m Butterfly heat in 1:09.37 without make it to the finals.
