3X3 BASKETBALL MAKING A BIG JORDAN IMPACT
Jul 23, 2017
The weekend’s latest 3x3 tournament has shown just how far the sport has come in a short space of time in Jordan.
More than 70 players born between 2000 and 2002 signed up for a tournament that enabled organisers to scout for talent that will play in upcoming tournaments for Jordan.
Held under the supervision of the Jordan Olympic Committee and 3x3 Basketball Committee, the Jordan 3x3 Basketball Championship was held at Trax JO and welcomed 18 teams.
After two days of top class action, Dream Ville clinched the title after beating Big 4 in the final match 12-10.
“We are encouraging youngsters to play 3x3 basketball so we can monitor their talent,” said Abdullah Qtishat, from the 3x3 Committee.
“The Championship showed the depth of talent that could represent Jordan in the future, and there will be more events like this organised to give all players the chance to shine and make a claim to represent their country.”
Jordan reignited 3x3 basketball earlier this year after the short-sided version of the game was included on the Olympic agenda for 2020 in Tokyo.
