3x3 TOURNAMENT TO SCOUT FOR TALENT
Jul 17, 2017
Jordan is hosting a 3x3 basketball tournament this weekend for players to try and make a claim for a place in future national teams.
Organised by the Jordan 3x3 Committee and Jordan Olympic Committee (JOC), the July 20-21 event at Trax JO will be sponsored by City Mall and hopes to attract male and female players born from 2000-2002.
With the short sided version of the sport included on the 2020 Olympic programme, Jordan has placed added importance in developing it here in coordination with the Jordan Basketball Federation.
“We are looking to discover new talent in Jordan,” said JOC Secretary General, Nasser Majali.
“We are providing young men and women with the chance to show us what they have got and prove that they are good enough to represent the Kingdom at major international events like the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires and for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.”
Each squad should include four players with no more than two allowed to have been born in the same year.
Jordan has quickly identified 3x3 basketball as a sport that is popular with youngsters and has worked hard to promote the game through a number of tournaments and international participations over the last three months.
This included the U18 World Youth Championships held in China earlier this month.
