THREE ASIAN BRONZES FOR KARATE STARS

Jordan has launched its Asian Karate Championships campaign with three bronze medals on Day One.
There were bronze medals for Nasser Fathi (-63kg), Yazan Al Waher (WEIGHT) and Mohammad Al Musa (-55kg) to give Jordan a glorious start to the championship which sees the senior competitions held alongside the age group categories.
Fathi took his bronze by beating Saudi Arabia’s Mohammad Ammar in the repechage match, while Al Waher’s bronze came the same way after beating Vietnam’s Thanh Nguyen (2-1).
Al Musa beat Chinese Taipei’s Hoang Tsung (6-4) to secure his bronze medal.
Saleh Al Sawalha lost his bronze medal contest to Japan’s Ryoma Kita (5-4) in the +70 kg category.
Zaki Abu Qaoud lost in the second round of the -70kg Japan’s Haruya Toyoda (2-0), and Hassan Masarwah lost his -57kg second round match to Kyrgyzstan’s Kalyzbek Nurlanbek (1-0).
Ali Lafi won two fights before losing to Kazakhstan’s Nurkanat Azhikanov (5-3) in the -70kg competition.
His teammate Ismael Ali went out in the first round.
Mohammad Al Musa missed out from the -55kg competition after losing to Indonesia’s Mukti Wahyu.
In female divisions, Diana Zaza lost her opener in the 59kg to Kazakhistan’s Sofya Berluteve (9-1) as well as Rama Hamdan who lost the -59kg to Thailand’s Neeranuch Tangeling (6-1).
