YOUNGSTERS HEAD TO WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Hot on the heels of reaching finals at the Asian Athletics Championships last week in India, two Jordanian youngsters are on their way to compete at the IAAF World U18 Athletics Championships in Kenya.

Sharif Al Atawneh and Alya Bushnaq head to Africa full of confidence after some impressive international performances over the last couple of months that saw them both qualify through extremely tough competition.

Al Atawneh, 17, will run the 3000m after winning the Asian event in May, while his 16-year-old teammate Bushnaq will compete in the 400m.

The championships get underway in Nairobi on Wednesday and will continue through to July 16.
