SHANNIK MEDALS IN AFRICAN BADMINTON EVENT

Baha’ Shannik has clinched a gold and a silver medal at the Ivory Coast International Badminton Championships held in Abidjan. Shannik, took the singles silver as second seed and then teamed up with Nayef Mansour to win the doubles title against some of the continent’s leading young players.

In the singles, he overcame players from Nigeria (twice), Benin and India on his way to a final showdown with Nigeria’s Anuoluwapo Juwon, who ran out the 2-0 winner.

But in the doubles he went one better, teaming up with Mansour as top seeds to beat pairs from Ghana and Nigeria twice before overcoming Egypt’s Adaham Al Jamal and Mohammad Kamel 2-0 in the final.
