WARM WELCOME FOR TAEKWONDO TEAM
Jul 02, 2017
Family and friends welcomed home the taekwondo team that competed at the World Championships in South Korea, which saw Olympic Champion Ahmad Abu Ghaush secure a bronze medal.
Speaking at Queen Alia Airport, Abu Ghaush praised the support he has received from Jordan and promised the best is yet to come.
“I’m so happy that I was on the podium,” he said.
“I went there looking to reach the semi-finals at the very least so I was pleased to have achieved that.
But it also means I will have to work harder for gold in the future.”
His coach Faris Al Assaf added that Abu Ghaush had struggled with injuries building up to the tournament over the past few months but believes he can clinch a World gold in future.
“It is our target,” he said. “We want to be competing for gold in every tournament we attend and in particular the World Championships. We know we have to work harder to achieve this.”
