ASFOUR AND QATTAN MISS OUT AT TAEKWONDO WORLDS

After both recorded impressive wins in their opening rounds of the World Taekwondo Championships in Muju, South Korea, Mohammad Asfour and Hamzeh Qattan both exited at the second round stage.
Asfour beat Japan’s Issei Hamada 22-20 in a dramatic opening match but then tasted defeat against Belgium’s Jaouad Achab 23-10 in the second round of the -63kg weight.
His teammate Hamzeh Qattan lost in the second round of the +87kg weight to USA’s Stephen Lambdin 28-15.
This was after defeating Algeria’s Mohcene Boukercha in his opening contest.
Jordan will complete its participation at the event on Friday with Shahed Al Turman fighting in the women’s -62kg against Australia’s Maya Talino.
