ABU GHAUSH SETTLES FOR BRONZE AT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
Jun 27, 2017
Jordan’s Olympic gold medallist Ahmad Abu Ghaush has settled for a bronze medal at the World Taekwondo Championships in South Korea.
The 21-year-old lost a nail biting semi-final to Jinyu Wang of Chinese Taipei where just a point separated the two going into the final seconds.
He eventually lost 9-4. It is the fourth time that Jordan has won a medal at the championships and caps a remarkable 12 months for Abu Ghaush that started with that historic gold medal in Rio de Janeiro last summer.
In the other semi-final, Korean top seed and two-time world champion Dae Hoon-Lee beat Bulgaria’s 23-6 to set up an all-Far East final against Wang.
Elsewhere on Tuesday, Taleen Al Humaidi lost in the second round to Serbia’s Tejana Bojadnove, 11-1, having earlier defeated Serbia’s Gabriela Bohousova, 11-9.
Wa’ed Al Turman also missed out after losing to USA’s Jacki Galawe 8-4 in the second round having received a walkover in the first round.
