Jun 26, 2017
Jordan will compete in Group D at the FIBA 3x3 U18 World Championships and will launch their campaign on the opening day of the tournament this Wednesday.
The team has arrived in the Chinese city of Chengdu after accepting a late invitation from FIBA, basketball’s world governing body, following the withdrawal of Kyrgyzstan.
The youngsters will start their campaign against fourth seeds Romania and then face Belgium, who are seeded 12, on the same day.
They will then have a rest day before meeting Indonesia, seeded 11, and bottom seeds Uganda on Friday. Jordan have been seeded 18. The top two from each of the four groups will advance to the quarter-finals.
The tournament will provide Jordan with an opportunity to further promote the sport in the Kingdom which has already hosted several successful 3x3 tournaments.
The short sided version of the game has been added to the Tokyo Olympic programme in 2020 and is enjoying a huge surge in popularity worldwide.
The four players making up Team Jordan are Mohammed Abu Quora, Abdullah Al Sawalhi, Sharif Al Sughair and Zeid Bukhari
