ABU GHAUSH INTO WORLD SEMI FINALS

Olympic gold medalist Ahmad abu Ghaush has picked up from where he left off last summer by producing a flawless day to reach Tuesday’s semi-finals of the World Taekwondo Championships in South Korea.
The 21-year-old breezed his way through three rounds and then beat Russia’s Vyacheslav Minin 15-10 in the quarter-final to guarantee at least a bronze medal for the -68kg category.
Abu Ghaush’s run began with a 23-5 win over Pakistan’s Mohammad Ikbal before easing past Mongolia’s Temuujin PurevJav 39-8.
Georgia’s Merab Shukakdeiz was next up on the end of a 23-17 result before Abu Ghaush beat the Russian.
All eyes will now be on the last four where he will meet Chinese Taipei's Jinyu Wang at 1:30 am our time.
Meanwhile, Juliana Al Sadeq lost her first round match to German Vanecsia Corendl 6-5 in the -74kg category.
Also on Tuesday, Wa’ed Al Turman (73kg) and Taleen Al Humaidi (53kg) will begin their campaigns
