JORDAN LOSE HISTORIC IRAQ FRIENDLY
Jun 02, 2017
Jordan played its part in one of the most historic football matches of recent times by travelling to play in the first international game held in Iraq since the troubles began.
Held at the state-of-the-art Basra stadium, the match was only made possible thanks to the lobbying of HRH Prince Ali bin Al Hussein who worked with FIFA to lift the long standing ban.
The only goal in the 1-0 defeat for Jordan was scored by Ala’ Abdulzahrah in the 15th minute in front of 70,000 fans.
The Nashama will now head to Hong Kong for another friendly next Wednesday before meeting Vietnam on June 13 in a 2019 Asian Cup qualifier.
