Husni Kayed has narrowly missed out on becoming the third young Jordanian to qualify for the World Youth Atheltics Championships after finishing fourth in the 2,000m steeplechase at the Asian qualifiers in Bangkok.
Kayed finished just outside the top three in an excellent time of 6:25.36 minutes to end a fine tournament for Jordan who will be represented by Shareif Al Atawneh and Alya Bushnaq in Kenya this summer.
Al Atawneh won gold in the 3,000m, and Bushnaq qualified for the Asian finals of both the 100m and the 400m to ensure her place.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Abu Zeinah missed out the final of the 200m after finishing seventh in his semi-final in a time of 23.16 seconds. The 17-year-old earlier came through his heat in a time of 23.06.
