THIRD BOXER REACHES MEDAL MATCHES

third boxer has guaranteed at least a bronze medal at the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games by reaching the semi-finals.
Olympic fighter Obada Al Kesbeh reached the last four of the 64kg weight by beating Turkey’s Volkan Gokcek. Bis next fight is against Egypt’s Islam Mohammad. He will join teammates Hussein Ishaish (+91kg) and Mohammed Al Wadi (56kg) who will also be fighting for a place in the finals of their respective weights after winning their quarter-final fights on Monday night.
Meanwhile Khader Baqlah remains on course for an incredible fourth medal after he finished second in his 100m freestyle semi-final to reach Wednesday’s final. Baqlah has already won the 200m and 400m distances and teamed up to secure bronze in the 4x200m. Mohammad Al Bdour missed out from the competition. Lydia Musleh finished eighth in the final of the 100m breaststroke and eighth in the 200m freestyle. Khaled Awad finished seventh in the 200m butterfly, while Dara Al Bakri and Rahaf Baqleh failed to make the final of the 50m backstroke, as well as their teammates Mohammad Jaber and Mohammad Al Bdour.
The taekwondo team launched their competitions on Tuesday, but Mu’tasim Abu Zeid, Muath Al Qatawneh and Taleen Al Humaidi were all knocked out prior to the medal matches. Tomorrow, Juliana Al Sadeq will meet Morocco’s Sabah Qutaibi in the quarter-finals of the 67kg, Majed Asfour will play Ivory Coast’s Salah Al Sharbati in the 80kg and Hamzeh Qattan will play against Turkey’s Bugrahan Karakas in the quarter-final of the +87kg.
SHOOTING FINISH EMPTY HANDED Jordan’s shooters have finished their competitions empty handed after Ra’ed Al Qurashi, Abdullah Al Bataineh and Samira Al Bataineh ended their participation in the 10m Air Pistol.
