ANOTHER JORDAN GOLD AT ARAB CHAMPIONSHIPS

Balqees Al Qudah, one of the stars of the recent Jordan Olympic Committee ‘Champs’ campaign, has won gold at the Arab Junior Fencing Championships hosted by the Kingdom.
The two-time Arab champion, added a third title to her haul by beating teammate Petra Assaf (15-9) in the final of the Epee weapon.
Lebanon’s Mary Abu Judeh and Jordan’s Leen Kloub, who Al Qudah beat in the semi-final, won bronze medals. “I’m so proud of the team,” said Anas Al Kayed, team coach.
“This championship provided us with a timely opportunity to prepare for the 1st Arab Self Defence Games in October and we will learn a lot as we look to build our strengths.”
The Kuwait team dominated the foil competition to extend their lead in the medal standings with a total of six gold, three silver and seven bronze medals.
Jordan are second still with four gold, five silver and six bronze medals. Lebanon are third with one gold, one silver and three bronzes.
