May 01, 2017
Wehdat clinched a place in the semi-final of the AFC Asian Cup's west Asia division after beating Bahrain's Al Muharaq 3-2 at the King Abdullah stadium.
The victory secured top spot in Group C and a place in the last four.
Croatian Antik gave Wehdat the lead in the first minute before Muther Abu Amarah added the second on the strike of half time. Al Muharaq pulled one back in the 49th minute but Baha’ Faisal restored the two goal advantage in the hour, but Al Jamal (75) added a second for Al Muharaq to give some nervous moments for the home fans.
The win meant Wehdat qualify with 12 points, while Al Muharaq missed out with 10 points alongside Lebanon’s Al Najmeh and Oman’s Saham.
The west Asian winner will meet the winner of east Asia in the final of the AFC Asian Cup on November 4.
