BOXERS HEAD TO WORLD QUALIFIERS

Six of Jordan’s top boxers, including two Olympians, are heading to Tashkent, Uzbekistan to take part in the Asian Boxing Championships, which serve as a qualifier for the AIBA World Championships later this year.
Rio Olympians Hussein Ishiash (+91kg) and Obadah Al Kesbeh (64kg) will be joined by Mohammad Al Wadi (56kg), Ziad Ishiash (64kg), Mohammad Al Yazouri (81kg), and Ahmad Tu’mat (90 kg) for the start of what promises to be a hectic summer for the national team.
Following the Asian event, which takes place from April 30-May 7, the team travels to compete at the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games starting on May 12 in Baku, Azerbaijan. The ultimate prize is the AIBA World Boxing Championships which takes place in Hamburg, from August 25.
The Asian Championships will attract over 200 boxers from 29 countries and will provide an ideal opportunity for the coaches to gauge the early form of the team.
