MAHMOUDIA MOTORS PARTNERS WITH JORDAN RUGBY FOR THIRD CONSECUTIVE YEAR
Apr 16, 2017
Amman, April 2017 – For the third consecutive year, Mahmoudia Motors – the sole and official dealer of Jaguar and Land Rover cars in Jordan – has announced its partnership with Jordan Rugby, pledging to support its efforts to promote and develop the sport in the Kingdom. Mahmoudia Motors was named the Automotive Partner of Jordan Rugby as well as the Title Sponsor of the Jordan National Rugby Sevens Senior Team in a signing ceremony held under the patronage of HRH Prince Mired Bin Ra’ad, President of Jordan Rugby, on Tuesday 11 April, 2017, at the Mahmoudia Motors showroom in Wadi Saqra.
Under the agreement, Mahmoudia Motors will extend its support to the Jordan National Rugby Sevens Senior Team; the ‘sevens’ variation of the sport, played by teams of seven players as opposed to the traditional 15 players, has surged in population worldwide since it was included in the Olympics Games for the first time last year. Furthermore, Mahmoudia Motors has also extended its support to World Rugby’s ‘Get Into Rugby’ (GIR) programme, under which Jordan Rugby teaches rugby at schools and motivates children to get into the sport. Since the programme’s launch in Jordan in 2014, GIR has introduced rugby to more than 2,000 students in over a dozen schools, bringing the sport to a new generation of Jordanians.
Over the years, Mahmoudia Motors, representing Land Rover in Jordan, has served as a consistent supporter of Jordan Rugby’s efforts to increase the sport’s popularity in the Kingdom. On the global level, Land Rover is a proud Worldwide Partner to rugby, committed to the growth of the game and its advancement among world populations. Land Rover consistently provides its backing to international rugby initiatives and events, including the Rugby World Cup 2015.
“As part of Mahmoudia Motors’ efforts to foster Jordan’s athletes and support their participation in sports, partnering with Jordan Rugby provides us with an opportunity to back a rising sport in the Kingdom,” commented Samir K. Rifai, Chief Operating Officer of Mahmoudia Group. “It gives us great pride to promote the local growth of the sport of rugby, whose values – integrity, passion, solidarity, discipline and respect – are closely aligned with those of the Land Rover brand.”
In turn, David Martinon, Vice President of Jordan Rugby, said, “With the help of Mahmoudia Motors and other private sector organizations, the fast-growing sport of rugby has begun to come into its own in Jordan. We are grateful to Mahmoudia Motors for its support of the National Rugby Sevens Senior Team as it gears up for the Arab Rugby Sevens Championship in Jordan this October, as well as the ‘Get Into Rugby’ programme, through which children can develop social skills and learn lifelong respect for others as part of a close-knit team.”
